Don’t Define Me Official Opening Event

On behalf of Barengi Gadjin Land Council Aboriginal Corporation, Horsham Regional Art Gallery would like to invite you to the official opening of Don’t Define Me.

For centuries there has been Western views that have tried to define what theAboriginal Woman is supposed to be. For years we’ve been overlooked as thedecision makers, the providers, nurturers, and warriors.Always searching for ways to explain what manydon’t understandYet here we stand defiant, as pinnacles thattower above and beyond the reach of any definition

Don’t Define Me is an exhibition that celebrates women of the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadwadjali, Wergaia and Jupagalk peoples.

Featured artists: Nagl (Auntie) Annie Nikkelson, Elisha Douglas, Gail Harradine, Kelly Koumalatsos, Kira Marks-Lovett, Kristie Witt, Ngal (Auntie) Titta Secombe, Tracey Rigney, Ngal (Auntie) Tracey Wise, Tiffany Retallick, Kayla Kennedy. 

Don’t Define Me is supported through the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund through Regional Arts Australia, administered by Regional Arts Victoria. Additional financial support from Barengi Gadjin Land Council Aboriginal Corporation and Horsham Regional Art Gallery.

Food and drink will be served at this event.
