Andrea Grutzner:

9 March - 14 May 2018

Step into the photography of Berlin based artist Andrea Grützner, the 2017 ING Unseen Talent Prize winner. Through the projection of light and the use of film the guesthouse called Erbgericht, the cultural heart of a village in rural Saxony Germany, becomes a series of stage sets or backdrops for memories. Andrea’s photography transforms the interior walls, corners and passageways of this historic building into a series of striking and complex compositions.

The house is – as the cultural center of the village – a projection screen for generations of memories and emotions. As a guest with both familiarity with the area, and yet a feeling of alienation from it, I enter into a visual dialogue with this special building which has cast a spell over me for years.”

Visit Andrea Grützner: Erbgericht and explore the history of abstract art and colour theory through a selection of photographs, prints and paintings from the Horsham Regional Art Gallery Collection, on the walls of Das Studio.

Das Studio

Get creative this autumn in Das Studio. Inspired by the artist’s photography of staircases and windows, doors and hallways in the exhibition Andrea Grützner: Erbgericht , enter the gallery interior to make, draw and paint. This dedicated studio space for kids and adults is a place to independently explore geometry, abstraction, colour and form. Das Studio will also come to life in a series of artist led art sessions throughout March and April.
